Our Mission

All communities are stronger together.  We live, play, work, volunteer and support each other. The synergy created through one community funneling to one public high school propels the performance of that high school and knits the community even closer.  Businesses, graduates, parents, community organizations and leaders all get involved and care about the outcome.

Changing school assignments in an attempt to retroactively accommodate unmanaged growth, artificially boost school performance data, and achieve one-dimensional diversity hurts communities, hurts schools, and masks problems rather than addresses them.

We want our school board and administration to do the hard work of implementing real solutions that actually address the issues of vulnerable students in struggling schools.

We want our school board and administration to recognize “redistricting” pulls apart communities, causes real world negative impacts, and most importantly, leaves the underlying problems unsolved.

  • FCPS and Fairfax County Board of Supervisors should demand that developers participate financially to build infrastructure - including schools - to accommodate the growth that they drive and from which they profit.
  • FCPS School Board should not make changes to existing policies or laws to make it easier to redistrict without public support.  We advocate no changes to 8130.

  • FCPS should strive to keep communities and school pyramids together to encourage community building, shared ownership and support.

  • FCPS should accommodate temporary ebbs & flows in growth through temporary solutions and sustained growth with expansion and renovation.

  • FCPS should drive precious resources into our schools. Do not waste these finite resources with bureaucratic attempts to hide weaker schools in the name of driving socio-economic diversity. Do the hard work. Fix the weaker schools instead of covering their issues with manipulated statistics. Provide resources where and when it will make a difference.

  • FCPS needs a second STEM high school and more access to IB programs, language immersion and other magnet opportunities. Lift up schools with magnet programs that create demand to attend.   Leverage nearby corporate/private partnerships and provide FCPS students with high quality STEM options other than TJHSST.
Voices of Fairfax is not associated with a candidate running for the Fairfax County School Board, is not a part of any campaign group, and not affiliated with a political party.  Our intention is to research, keep the community informed, and step up when we can make a difference.  We will work with whoever is elected and the rest of the school board on the issues.
